April 1st was the first day that cap subject H-1B applications could be filed for the fiscal year starting October 1, 2010. This start date is important because each year the government imposes a cap of 65,000 regular H-1B visas (and 20,000 H-1B Master visas). So far this year, 16,025 H-1B petitions have been received for the 65,000 cap and 6,739 H-1B petitions have been received for the 20,000.
